Sound has more and more importance in the mobile world. In a short period of time, not only did sound and sound possibilities on mobile phones were diversified but, they have also gained centrality going from traditional ringtones to even the possibility of acquiring entire songs via mobile, getting to content creation by own mobile holders to a variety of utilities. And among all these ways there have also been numerous updating.

From a rather heterogeneous composition, with a representative of the industry, a lawyer and a journalist, this panel intends to approach the different facets of the presence of sound in the mobile communication devices taking into account the perspective of many actors involved in this process.

Besides the discussion about the news in the traditional sound airing via the mobile ( ringtones and existing songs), we also intend to reflect about the tendencies of production and airing of new contents by mobile phone users and the issue related to copyright involved in this form of art production. Can we already consider mobile phones are musical instruments?
