The Intimacy of Strangers – United Kingdom / Germany

“The Intimacy of Strangers” is a story of life, love, loss and hope – completely built on real conversations between people, randomly heard, made through cell phones. Exploring the conflict between the private and the public, between the intimate and the same time distant, the film weaves these apparently random exchanges in a love story of modern times: of the first attraction to the bitter end. A picture of solitude and urban flaws, the documentary reflects if these conversations can mean something deeper about our world, our fears and hidden hopes, and the role of the mobile phone in all of it. Is it a mere instrument of our desires or can it really chance the way we relate to each other?
