Camille Baker

Camille Baker is a PHD Candidate with the SMARTlab at the University of East London, focussing on Liveness and Presence in Mobile Media performance events, and conducting funded research through the BBC R+D. Recent projects include: MindTouch, under Dr. Marc Price and Prof. Lizbeth Goodman, research involving mobile phones interfacing with biofeedback devices; Mobile Stories of Achievement with Colleen Lanki, University of British Columbia, a mobile stories project for Vancouver 2020 Olympics; Executive Director/ Curator of Escape Artists Society, various network and new media art events, researcher on wearable art installation performance project whispers / between bodies/heart [h] , with Thecla Schiphorst and Dr. Susan Kozel, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada.
Camille’s background ranges from music composition and performance, to ED/Curator of The Escape Artists Society in Vancouver(2005-2007), and Lead Curator, Conference Director and Co-Performance Art Curator for New Forms Festival in Vancouver(2002-2004), to media art instructor(2004-2007), to wearable technology and fashion researcher (2002-2005), to editor-in-chief of an online pop-culture magazine (2000-2003), to new media / web designer /developer(2001-2004), to documentary / online video/ animation(1994-2005), to writer, sculptor and modern dancer (1988-1992).
Camille brings versatile skills and recent experience with mobile devices, wearables, video art and performance projects.
